The rivalry between the two schools dates back to the Normal Owls and College Bulldogs days, and currently Wildcats lead the series with the score of 46-37-1.
It was in 1958 when Arizona State University attained the privileges of a university. And after attaining the university status, Arizona State Sun Devils are leading the series with the score of 29-23-1. The winner of the each of the game is awarded with a trophy that is called the Territorial Cup. Since the rivalry between the two schools is known to one of the oldest one, the trophy awarded is also one of the oldest rivalry trophies of the country. The title of the cup was changed to State Farm Territorial Cup ever since State Farm sponsored the event in 2009. Before the University of Arizona’s wrestling program was folded, the two schools also competed with each other in the sport of wrestling. For all the time that they competed, Arizona State Sun Devils led the series with the record of 28-8.
Arizona State Sun Devils’ baseball team plays its home games at the Packard Stadium.
