The real estate mogul Donald Trump is no short on media attention, already having been profiled several times for his shrewd property investment ventures, hosting a successful television show and that mop on his head that he tries to pass for a hairdo. Hence, when an eponymous rap single came out in early 2011, the Donald Trump brand worked to boost the popularity of the rapper more than the other way round, which the Mac Miller Pittsburgh performance will be a full testament to.
Mac Miller was born Malcolm McCormick around the same time that the presidency of Bush Senior was coming to a close. Leading a happy-go-lucky childhood, actively playing sports and partying and whatnot, Mac found his calling in making music and after polishing off his hands on the drums, guitar and piano, began releasing mixtapes.
Releasing his debut mixtape My Mackin’ Ain’t Easy in 2007 as "Easy Mac", the headliner of the upcoming Mac Miller Pittsburgh event achieved an initial breakthrough with his follow-up K.I.D.S. and leveraged upon it to land a recording deal with Rostrum Records, a small local record company.
His first major record Blue Side Park after coming out in the summer of 2011, kept on steadily climbing up the charts, parking itself at the top of Billboard 200 as well as the Top R&B/Hip-Hop and Rap albums charts. "Donald Trump" itself has clocked more than 38 million views on YouTube.
